Palm Sunday
Verses Covered
Bible - Luke 19:28-40
Spark Bible - pages 454 to 459
Palm Sunday begins Holy Week, as Jesus enters Jerusalem riding a donkey as people line the streets with their cloaks and palm branches. However, within a few days, Jesus will be betrayed, arrested, sentenced, and put to death in the very city that welcomed him with open arms. This contrast has led to many preachers referring to this Sunday as Palm/Passion Sunday – as we hold the tension of those two events against one another as we wait in hope for Easter morning. This year is obviously way different than our typical Palm Sunday Processional -- I'm really sad to not be together on a Sunday that is synonymous with kids in worship at Fourth! - but hopefully we can still find ways to celebrate, reflect, and discuss the importance of this day and the week to come.
